Holy Thursday

March 20, 2008

Last night we had an awesome (awesome?! I sound like my old youth pastor/leaders when I say that. Time to go listen to The Insiderz!) youth group last night. Luke has been leading worship for a Joni and Friends camp all week so Debbie took the reigns leading youth group. Debbie is the Director of Family Ministries (Luke, did I get the title right?) and works closest with nursery-6th grade. She came up with a really fun game for all of us to play, and had a cool interactive Bible study for our students. She read the “Good Friday” story out of The Message, and challenged the students to think about what really went on that day. After that, we all grabbed post-it notes and sharpies and began to write down specific Sins that Christ died for on the cross. Then we posted them on a wall in our youth room/church office. It was a great way to reflect on what Christ went through while on the cross.

Debbie did a great job leading the group, but I can’t wait to have Luke back this Sunday and next week. The kids missed him too!

Today also commemorates 4 events: the washing of the Disciples’ feet by Jesus, the Last Supper, the agony of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas; lets not pass up this opportunity to take it all in. It’s easy to forget about the events that happened before the death and resurrection of Christ. And though the resurrection is the most important part, we shouldn’t forget the entire story.

  1. This is great! Thanks for your faithfulness with our youth!

  2. […] Tim posted on this last week, but I thought I’d follow up with the second half of our youth activity. […]
